Who's At Risk?
Abuse knows no race, gender, ethnicity, social class, age or origin.
That being said, it's sad to say everyone is at risk. Male, Female, Old,
Young...
I have listed on the Forms Of Abuse page several ways you can tell if you are
being victimized.
As an outsider there may not be any signs, but if you see the
following begin to occur in a loved one, please seek help:
Victims tend to begin to withdraw from family and friends.
They may show up with
"mysterious" bruises or other injuries that seem to have lame excuses.
`If the person was once a self dependent person with goals and aspirations, and
now you see someone who seems to be cowering behind what their partner wants.
`If
they always have and excuse for their partners misbehavior.
A child may suddenly start acting out, drawing disturbing pictures or have an
advanced sexual knowledge weather thru play or language.
Their are lots of "signs and symptoms" of abuse, but most of the time they are
only realized in hind site. Please be aware of your loved ones habbits, and any
extreme changes that may occur. Do not blow it off as a "phase" ...
investigate.. ask questions.. Be Aware!
